Look at this beautiful specimen! What a cutie!
Life Functions:
Bird vs. Animal
Koalas and Emus are very different animals. They differ in their sleep patterns, their eating style, their young, almost everything. For example a Koala will sleep 20 hours a day while an emu is a very tentative sleeper, they will wake at the slightest noise. Emus can go weeks without eating while a koala has to eat everyday to get enough nutrition. Emus lay eggs and Koalas are marsupials, they give birth.
Exoskeleton vs. Endoskeleton
Exo- means outer, and Endo- means inner. So an exoskeleton means that the "framework" of the creature is on the outside, like the lobster. An endoskeleton is inside the creature, so the soft parts are outside, like the koala.
The exoskeleton provides more safety and flexibility, while also providing water resistance, however it cannot grow, which means it needs to be shed and regrown, Leaving the animal vulnerable.
The endoskeleton is not as strong, and though it protects the organs, it does not protect the skin. It is also not as flexible, but it can grow alongside the organism, so creatures with endoskeletons can grow bigger than creatures with exoskeletons.
Ecological Importance
Koalas are a part of the food chain, they regulate the plant life, and feed the predators.
Survival Characteristics
Koalas are good climbers, they can hide in trees and sleep all day to avoid being seen. The fact that they are marsupials help them to survive, because their young are safe inside their pouch instead of running around attracting predators. They eat eucalyptus leaves, which are common, so they get a steady supply of food.

Life Functions:
- feeding- herbivores, eating mostly eucalyptus leaves
- respiration- regular
- circulation- closed system
